What size should business yard signs be?

The most common size for lawn signs for business is 18 by 24 inches. It reads well from a passing car and fits a standard H stake. Larger sizes like 24 by 36 work for busy roads and bigger lots.

Keep the message short. Think of your sign like a billboard. People see it for two or three seconds. Put your company name, one line about what you do, and a phone number or web address. Use big letters and strong contrast.

Good yard signs share a few traits. They are easy to read, easy to spot and easy to set up. Test your design by holding a printout at arm’s length and stepping back. If you cannot read it in three seconds, simplify it.

• Skip long paragraphs and small print
• One phone number or one web address, not both if space is tight
• Leave a little blank space around the edges

How much do custom yard signs cost?

Our standard 18 x 24 inch yard sign is $21.99 each when you order 20 or more. That price includes full color printing on both sides of a coroplast sign. H stakes are extra.

Need fewer than 20, a different size, or something like 24 x 36 for a busy road? We will quote it. Bigger signs cost more, and very large orders can price lower, so send us your count and we will give you a real number.

Count your spots before you order. A crew might want one at every active site, and a promotion might need a sign on every corner. Add a few spares for signs that get bent or lost. Ordering them together keeps the price per sign down.

Can I put yard signs in the right of way?

Rules for signs near roads vary by city and county. Vancouver, Clark County and the nearby cities each have their own limits on where and how long a sign can stand. Some spots, like the strip beside a public road, may be off limits.

Please check local rules before you place signs. The city or county planning office can tell you what applies to your location. Signs on private property with the owner’s permission are the usual safe choice. We can help you pick a size, but we do not give legal advice on placement.

Remember that wind and rain are hard on any sign left out for weeks. Pushing the stake in firmly helps. Wet ground in the Pacific Northwest can loosen a stake, so check your signs after a storm and straighten any that lean. Ask us if a sturdier material would suit your project better.
