Custom Golf Hats for Tournaments and Company Outings

Custom golf hats are the one piece of tournament swag people keep. Shirts end up in a drawer. Koozies get lost. A good hat with a clean embroidered logo gets worn to the range, the hardware store, and the next outing. If you are planning a charity scramble, a company golf day, or a club event, the hat is where to spend a little extra.
The best golf hats share a few things. A light, breathable crown. A curved or slightly pre curved bill. A fit that works for most heads. And a logo that is small and sharp, not a billboard. Embroidery is the standard for golf because it looks premium and holds up to sweat and sun.
We decorate hats for tournaments, companies, and clubs across Vancouver WA, Clark County, and the Portland metro. Send us your logo and a head count through our quote request and we will send a proof and a price.
What makes custom golf hats different from regular caps?
A golf hat has to work for four or five hours outside. That changes the blank you pick. Here is what to look for.
- Performance fabric. Polyester or a poly blend that wicks sweat and dries fast. Cotton twill gets heavy once it is wet.
- Unstructured or lightly structured crown. Softer, lighter, and it packs in a golf bag without losing shape.
- Moisture band inside. A sweatband that pulls moisture away from the forehead.
- Curved bill. Blocks sun on the follow through. Flat bills are a style choice, not a golf choice.
- Adjustable closure. A snap, buckle, or hook and loop strap so one size fits most of the field.
- Light colors. White, stone, navy, and heather grey are classics. Dark hats are hotter in the sun.
Popular golf hat styles
Four styles cover almost every tournament order we see.
- Performance cap. Six panel, mid profile, poly fabric, curved bill. The safe pick that most golfers already own a version of.
- Rope hat. A rope across the base of the bill and a five panel crown. Retro, very popular right now, and great for a logo in the center. See custom rope hats for why everyone wants one.
- Dad hat. Unstructured cotton or poly, low profile, relaxed fit. Comfortable and a little understated. Our post on custom dad hats covers fit and minimums.
- Visor or bucket hat. Visors for players who do not like a full crown. Buckets for shade and a fun look at a casual scramble.

Embroidery, patches, or print?
Custom embroidered golf hats are the standard for a reason. Thread does not peel, fade, or crack. It looks expensive even on a modest blank. For most logos, direct embroidery on the front center is the right call.
| Method | Look | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Direct embroidery | Classic, raised | Most logos |
| 3D puff embroidery | Bold, thick | Simple letters |
| Woven or leather patch | Premium, detailed | Fine detail, rope hats |
| Heat transfer | Flat, full color | Photos, gradients |
Patches are a good move when your logo has very small text or shading that thread cannot hold. The patch is made first, then sewn or heat applied to the hat. Leather and faux leather patches look great on a stone or navy rope hat. Heat transfers, including DTF, work when you need full color on a small run and the hat fabric is flat enough to press.
How big should the logo be on a golf hat?
Smaller than you think. The front panel of a cap is about 2 to 2.5 inches tall and roughly 4 to 4.5 inches wide at the base. A front logo around 2 to 2.75 inches wide looks right. Go bigger and the design runs into the seams and looks crowded.
Use the side and back for the rest. A sponsor name on the left side, the event year on the back above the closure, a small tournament name over the right ear. Each of those spots fits a logo about an inch or so tall. Spreading things out looks more polished than cramming everything on the front.
A note on fine detail. Thread has a minimum size. Text under about a quarter inch tall tends to blur. If your logo has a thin tagline, we may suggest dropping it or moving it to a patch. We will show you in the proof before anything is sewn.
Planning hats for a tournament or company outing
A little planning keeps the hat table running smooth on event day.
- Count early. Players, volunteers, sponsors, and a few extras for last minute foursomes.
- Go adjustable. Fitted hats mean guessing sizes. One size adjustable removes that problem.
- Offer two colors. A light and a dark option gives people a choice without doubling the setup.
- Sponsor placement. Decide which sponsor gets the front and which get the sides before you send art.
- Send vector art. AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF logos make clean embroidery files. A screenshot does not.
- Leave time. Embroidery runs take longer than a shirt order. Ask us for current turnaround when you quote.

What do custom logo golf hats cost?
Typical ranges, not a price list. A decent performance blank with a single front embroidery usually lands somewhere in the mid teens to the twenties per hat at tournament quantities. Premium blanks, patches, and extra logo locations push that higher. There is usually a one time digitizing fee to turn your logo into a stitch file, and that fee is reused on every reorder.
Price drops as quantity goes up because setup is spread across more hats. Your quote depends on the blank, the number of logo locations, stitch count, and quantity. Send us the details and we will give you real numbers.
Golf hats for the Pacific Northwest season
Golf season around Vancouver and Portland runs from late spring into early fall, and a lot of charity tournaments land in June through September. That is also when every other event is ordering hats. Get your art in a few weeks ahead of when you need them in hand.
Our weather also argues for performance fabric over cotton. A damp May morning can soak a cotton cap by the turn. Poly blends dry out by the back nine. And since we have plenty of grey days, you do not need to worry about dark hats baking in the sun quite as much as you would in a desert climate. Navy and charcoal are fair game here.

Questions people ask
What is the minimum order for custom golf hats?
Embroidery works at small quantities once the logo is digitized. A dozen is a comfortable starting point for a good per hat price. Tournament orders of 50 to 150 get better pricing. Ask us about your exact count.
Can I put more than one logo on a hat?
Yes. Front, left side, right side, and back are all common. Each added location adds a bit of cost. Most tournament hats use two or three spots.
Do you have samples I can see?
We keep sample blanks in the shop and can order a specific style for you to look at before a big run. Feeling the fabric and checking the fit is the best way to avoid surprises.
Can you match our company colors?
Thread comes in hundreds of colors and we can get very close to most brand colors. Hat blank colors are limited to what the maker offers, so we will show you the closest options. The proof shows both so you can approve before we sew.
